Schooldates
Term dates for every school in the UK, built and run by me.
Since 2013, academies, free schools, voluntary aided and foundation schools have set their own term dates rather than following their council. Sixty-one per cent of schools now do. There is no national dataset in any of the four nations, so Schooldates collects them source by source: 580 calendars from councils, trusts and schools themselves.
It lists 31,133 establishments — state schools, private schools, nurseries, colleges and universities — taken from the Department for Education’s Get Information about Schools. 26,151 of them have term dates, covering 8.9 million pupils.
Every date carries the URL it was read from and the day it was last checked. Nothing is published unless it passes every check: three terms in order, no overlaps, plausible spans, and a year that lands near the right number of teaching days. Where a date has not been found, the page says so rather than estimating one.
The site and the calendar feeds are free. The JSON API is what pays for the collection.
