Adam Stoner

Shooting film in Scotland

This film sat in a drawer for seven months before I finally got it developed by Take It Easy Lab in Leeds. These are from Scotland last winter.
Film: Kodak Ektar 160

Looking through a car windscreen, its edge still frosted, down a road that runs between tall pines heavy with snow, one car far ahead. Adam Stoner in a blue and yellow hooded jacket and Sarah MacGillivray in a red beanie and long grey scarf, grinning in a snowy car park outside a Premier Inn. Adam Stoner, Sarah MacGillivray and Zoe Samuels-Lyons from Historic Scotland talking on a wide green lawn beside a white flagpole flying the saltire, bare trees and picnic benches behind them under a grey sky. Looking up at a roofless red sandstone facade, rows of empty windows each topped with a carved stone pediment, lichen on the stonework. Adam Stoner, Sarah MacGillivray, Mark Watson from Historic Scotland and Ian Sheerer from Kinneil House gathered on a path among trees at Kinneil House, one of them in a flat cap reading from an open book, the sandstone wall of the house at the right edge. Taken from a moving car, green fields running down to the Firth of Forth, the white towers of the Queensferry Crossing and the red Forth Bridge on the horizon, a wing mirror in the corner. Smailholm Tower seen from below, a small stone silhouette on top of a dark rocky outcrop against a pale streaked sky. Sarah MacGillivray, Julia Hasse, Adam Stoner and an interviewee at black railings on a red gravel path, rolling hills behind them white with frost. A snow-covered hillside dotted with small pines rising into low cloud, a thin band of warm light on the right horizon. A snowy slope looking out over a dark forested valley towards distant white hills under long bands of cloud.
